This item is in Mint Condition. I took 3 times as many photos of this knife more than I usually do. It was a hard one to photograph well. It is big, based on the 6356 Bowie frame, and bright. Reflections and so much detail to see on the blade. made it difficult. The knife is outstanding. The box, not so much. It has deteriorated over time and didn’t fare well during transportation. The felt is nearly gone, and there are a couple of puncture holes here and there on the ends. Puma, when this knife was produced, received a low mark for a box meant to display this beautiful piece. Someone with a little talent with some red felt and glue can bring most of its appearance back to life.
They made 300 of these to mark the anniversary of the “Old 300”. These were the first families brought to Texas by Stephen F. Austin, with permission from the Spanish Government to colonize Texas. Details of the blade reflect this event and others in Texas history on the blade.
A very fine knife with a great sheath. The handle shows some discoloration on one side, indicative of being displayed in an open box. The gold Aurum etching is beautiful. The original certificate is still in the box, which is unusual for this knife.
I have never seen a Texas Bowie that doesn’t have some issue with the box.
Did I mention that it has an extremely low serial number for this series?
Serial number 4
