This item is in Near Mint Condition. A beautiful and early Boot Knife with the German Style Sheath. These knives are called Bayernmesser in German. Bayern is an are known to Americans as Bavaria. This knife design originated there, hence the name. Tucked down into a boot or the pocket of their lederhosen, these knives are very popular there. This is an early one. Although in the correct box, the box has no label, but it is in wonderful condition.
The bolsters of this knife are a quandary for me. They look partially unfinished. They are unploished near the blade on both sides. The owner, having the knife for many years, has no clue why either. I just wanted to point that out, otherwise the knife is in beautiful condition and with outstanding stag handles.
